Steven C. Shell is an Architect in Tucson, Arizona who has a private practice and has been providing unique Architectural Designs, Site Planning and Zoning related work for the past 33 years.
He is also an internationally recognized lecturer and top rated speaker on Building Information Modeling (BIM), Revit Architecture®, Creative & Unique project and office Workflows integrating Revit® & AutoCAD® and computer generated Visual & Graphic Communication, Presentations and Rendering.
In addition to his practice and lecturing, he served as the Zoning Examiner for the City of Tucson for two years.
He has also served on various City Boards, Committees & Commissions for over 28 years.
He recently served as the Chairman of the City of Tucson's Board of Adjustment for 8 years. (Zoning Variances & Appeals)
(Prior to this, he was the Vice-Chair of the City's Sign Code Advisory & Appeals Board for 2 years and served as the Chairman for the City's Board of Adjustment & Design Review Boards for 16 years.)
He was appointed by the Mayor & Council to head up the City Manager's new Development & Planning Services Center Advisory Council (Stake Holders Committee) to oversee the City's efforts to help make the permitting and development process easier, faster and more friendly.
Mr. Shell has been using Autodesk Revit, a 3D parametric modeling software program which is the foundation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for over 18 years. He is "Professionally Certified" in Revit by Autodesk and is authorized to teach Revit Architecture. He is the co-founder and co-chairperson of the "Southern Arizona Revit Users Group".
Mr. Shell has lectured at the University of Arizona's College of Architecture and Collage of Law, Pima Community College (where he is also an Adjunct Professor) and numerous other schools, architecture firms, architectural and building Industry related organizations, construction companies and manufacturing companies across the country.
Some of Steven's international and national speaking awards include the "Top Speaker Award" at the RTC - Europe, Central States, Mountain States and Pacific Coast BIM Workshops and most recently, he received the Top Rated speaker award for his Round Table presentation in 2015, 2017 and 2019 at Autodesk Univerisity (AU) in Las Vegas. Steven is also a top rated yearly featured guest speaker at Minnesota University and he has received top honors on Autodesk's AU On-Line every year since presenting in 2011. Steven was one of 5 national presenters for the "Revit - Best of the West" conference.
In addition to his public speaking and practice, he is a Revit & BIM consultant to several large Architecture firms,companies and manufacturers (including the Walt Disney Imagineering Group in California) with their efforts to switch from AutoCAD® to Revit®.
